About Incident

In mid October 2009 two sisters, A (25 years) and B (31 years) both unmarried, educated professionals, working and earning good income - became victims of a vicious acid attack by two men near their home in New Delhi . At the time, the attack was reported both in print media and on some TV channels.

In this most gruesome frontal mode assault, a jug full of acid was thrown on them causing severe acid burn damage to their facial features, eyes (complete loss of vision), arms, hands, upper torso, internal tissues, nerves and blood vessels. Right now, and before it becomes too late, the need for medical attention is urgent and immediate. Both the sisters need to undergo tests and treatment that would include eye re-construction (maybe implants), nose and lips re-construction, flesh re-construction on their arms & torso, skin grafting & plastic surgery, post operative care, counselling and rehabilitation. This is going to be a long and arduous process and is likely to cost an exorbitant amount of money before they can hope to start rebuilding their lives.
